Turn a rack of letters into real word possibilities with our Anagram Solver. Enter your letters to find words that can be formed from them, compare longer and shorter combinations, and discover options you may have overlooked. Whether you are working on a word puzzle or looking for a possible Scrabble play, this tool helps you explore your available letters without rearranging them one combination at a time.
Enter up to 15 letters and select Find Words. Results are organized by word length, with longer words displayed first. Blank tiles, dictionary selection, and advanced letter filters give you additional ways to narrow your search.
Find Words Hidden in Your Letters
Our anagram finder compares your letters with the selected word list and returns words that can be formed without exceeding the available letter counts. You can search for full-length anagrams or discover shorter words made from part of your letter set.
For example, entering TEACHER lets you explore words that can be formed from those seven letters. You can compare the results by length and inspect individual words rather than manually testing every arrangement. If your letters include a blank tile, the solver can also consider an appropriate replacement letter.
How to Use the Anagram Solver
- Enter your letters. Type the letters from your puzzle or game, up to the 15-character limit.
- Add blank tiles if needed. Use ? or * for each unknown letter represented by a blank tile.
- Choose a dictionary. Select TWL/NWL, SOWPODS, or ENABLE to search the corresponding word collection.
- Set optional filters. Use Must include, Prefix, or Suffix when you have additional letter requirements.
- Select Find Words. Review the matches, compare word lengths, and select a result to explore its meaning or search again.
Example: Enter PLAN? to search using P, L, A, N, and one blank tile. The solver can consider matching words that use those four known letters plus one suitable letter. The blank represents one letter only; it does not allow the other letters to be reused without limit.
Choose the Right Word List
The available dictionaries contain different word collections, so a search may return different results depending on your selection.
For competitive play, check the official word list and edition accepted by your game. A word appearing in a dictionary option does not automatically mean it is valid under every game’s rules.
Filter Words by Their Letters
Advanced Options can help you narrow a large set of results when your puzzle already provides part of the answer.
- Must include: Require particular letters to appear in a result. Account for repeated letters when necessary.
- Prefix: Find words beginning with a known sequence of letters.
- Suffix: Find words ending with specific letters.
Search example: If you need a word that begins with RE, enter RE in Prefix. If the word must also contain A, add A to Must include. The solver can then narrow the candidates using those requirements alongside your available letters.
Understand the Results
The solver arranges matching words into length groups, making it easier to find candidates that suit your puzzle or available game space.
- Word-length groups: Compare words according to the number of letters they contain.
- Letter scores: The displayed number represents the sum of standard English Scrabble letter values, not the guaranteed score of a complete board move.
- Blank-letter highlights: Identify letters supplied by blank tiles in matching results.
- Word meanings: Select a result to explore its meaning or use its letters for another search.
If a search returns no matches, check your spelling and letter counts, remove unnecessary filters, or try another dictionary. A word may be absent from the selected collection even if it is recognized elsewhere.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does an Anagram Solver do?
It searches a word list for words that can be formed from your letters. Our Anagram Solver also supports shorter words, blank tiles, dictionary selection, and optional letter filters.
How many letters can I enter?
You can enter up to 15 characters. Depending on your letters and selected dictionary, the results can include both full-length anagrams and shorter words.
Can I use a blank tile?
Yes. Enter ? or * to represent one blank tile. The solver can use that blank as an appropriate letter when matching words.
Why do different dictionaries return different words?
TWL/NWL, SOWPODS, and ENABLE contain different word collections. Switching dictionaries can therefore change which words match your letters.
Can I find words that start or end with specific letters?
Yes. Use Prefix for known starting letters, Suffix for known ending letters, and Must include for letters that must appear in a result.
Put your letters to work. Enter your combination above, explore the matching words, and use the available filters to focus on the results that fit your puzzle. Our Anagram Solver gives you a practical way to discover word possibilities without testing every arrangement manually.
